Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that the administration of the .US country code Top Level Domain will transition to a new operator.
Registry Services has had the privilege of operating the .US domain since 2001. What began as a responsibility has grown into something we are genuinely proud of: a stable, secure, and trusted national internet namespace that serves millions of Americans, thousands of businesses, and public entities at every level.
Over the years, under the stewardship of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), we have worked to earn and uphold the trust of the American public through every registrant served, every registrar supported, and every policy decision made. We take pride in the high standards we've maintained, the threats we've helped prevent, and the communities we've served. Most of all, we are proud of the dedicated team whose expertise and commitment made it all possible.
We congratulate the incoming operator and wish them well in serving the American public through this important national namespace.
A Thank You
To the Department of Commerce and NTIA: it has been an honor to serve as the trusted steward of America's domain for 25 years. We are grateful for the partnership and the opportunity.
To the registrars and registrants who have been part of the .US community: thank you for your trust. The domain you built your presence on was in good hands, and it will continue to be.
To our team at Registry Services: what you built matters. What you protected matters. Twenty-five years of the American internet is better because of the work you did every single day.
